The most successful commercial vehicle range in Europe, the Ford Transit, enters a new era in its long and successful life, with a series of extensive improvements to keep it always a cut above its competitors.
“We are very pleased to introduce the latest generation Ford Transit in Malta” said David Gasan, Managing Director of Gasan Enterprises Ltd, Ford importers in Malta.
“The Transit is just over 40 years old and is Europe’s best-selling van and Ford have done an extremely good job at retaining that position thanks to the improvements found in this latest model”, continued Mr Gasan. “The restyled model has really taken into account the needs and requirements of van users in today’s dynamic world. It is a veritable comfortable workspace and dedicated workhorse, all at the same time” said Mr Gasan.
The rugged design of the new Transit is tough and stylish; individual but functional. Interior and exterior, back to front, on the surface and under the skin, every area of Ford’s popular workhorse has been re-examined and improved. The extensive upgrade is the result of several years of development and they are the most significant changes of the past six years.
New standard equipment, new model variants and engines, and a host of convenience features make the Transit a perfect “mobile office” as well as a durable load carrier.
The real force behind the improvements in the new Transit has been customer needs. And these improvements reflect the needs of today’s commercial owner/driver in the final product.
The high-tech appearance of the new headlamps is enhanced by square shaped surrounds and the cast metal appearance of the inner bezel. A three-piece bumper design has been retained and now features cut-in steps at either side so it is easier for users to reach the windscreen.
Interior design elements that embrace ergonomics, quality materials and good build quality are now deciding factors when it comes to choosing between one vehicle and another. Drivers demand that the cabin – which is their workplace – should be as sophisticated and comfortable as the car they drive in their free time.
The gear shifter has been relocated from the floor to the dashboard, freeing up floor space and allowing a walk-through cabin. The dashboard itself is completely new as are the instrument switches and steering wheel, while new and innovative storage solutions ensure that that the cabin now provides an even more convenient workplace.
The new Transit is also offered with a choice of six all-new Duratorq TDCi diesel engines (three 2.2 litre and three 2.4 litre variants) plus a 4-cylinder 2.3 litre Duratec petrol engine that is CNG/LPG compatible.
The new Duratorq common-rail diesel engines all meet Stage IV emission limits, as does the petrol engine.
The new Transit is available in a myriad of combinations with short, long and extra-long wheelbases, as well as low-, mid- and high-roof versions and the derivatives offered include closed vans, minibuses, open vans and chassis cabs.
“The Transit’s key strength is dependability. It has been and still is the most dependable commercial vehicle in the market. That is Ford’s promise and that is why the Ford Transit has just been voted the International Van of the Year 2007” concluded Mr Gasan.
The new Transit is now available for viewing and test drive at Gasan Enterprises Ltd, Mriehel By-Pass, Mriehel.
